Relentless Safety Protocols
Safety, Integrity, and Reliability are Our Top Priorities
We place safety, integrity, and reliability at the center of everything we do. The placenta encapsulation process opens the door to a number of possible benefits, as well as some risk. Our procedures are followed the same way every time, for every mom, to minimize risks as much as possible. We are here to answer any questions you have and invite you to ask us about our processes at anytime.
Bloodborne Pathogen Certified
We have successfully completed and passed training in Bloodborne Pathogens & Infection Control. This training is specifically written for placenta encapsulation specialists and is in accordance with the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard 29 CFR 1910.1030. We use universal precautions with all placentas and placenta products to minimize risk of exposure to infectious disease. In addition to wearing personal protective equipment, we never process more than one placenta at a time per location to prevent cross contamination. If we have two clients who deliver their babies on the same day, the placentas are completed in order of birth. We process the first placenta and complete our disinfection process before we start the second placenta. We have two preparation locations so it is very rare, that two placentas will be in one location at the same time.
Formally Trained and Certified in Placenta Encapsulation
Each of our independent placenta specialists successfully completed training and certification specifically for placenta encapsulation. We uphold the International Placenta & Postpartum Association Standards of Practice in our business and personal operations.'
Utah Food Safety Compliant
We have Utah Food Handlers Cards. Since the placenta is a raw organ, we handle it according to government food safety regulations to prevent bacterial growth. We ensure the placenta is kept at a safe refrigerated temperature at all times during transportation and storage. We set our dehydration temperature to 160ºF for processing. Upon removal from the dehydrator, we inspect all tissue thoroughly to determine that it is completely dehydrated prior to reducing into powder form and encapsulating.
Standard Routine for Disinfection and Cleanliness
Prior to and following each placenta process, we clean and disinfect all surfaces that may come in contact with the placenta. For each placenta, we utilize single use, disposable cutting boards, sponges, towels and kitchen shears and we dispose of them immediately. Our reusable equipment is washed in hot soapy water, rinsed thoroughly, then fully immersed in bleach solution (utilizing concentrated bleach) to soak and disinfect for 20 minutes. Our final step is a clean water rinse to remove bleach residue.
